eBay is too easy

sometimes, i’m a dumbass… okay, okay, MOST of the time i’m a dumbass. i was all psyched up about my geocaching discovery yesterday that i put a bid down on a GPS unit. totally didn’t think i’d win it, so of course i won it. silly me, saved a bunch of cash over a new one, anyway…

make sure you wish scott a happy birthday, maybe send him a present! [via: slatch]

don’t feel much like doing anything for halloween this year. i really hate when it falls on a weekday, especially right in the middle of the week. the weekends are just too far off to really justify moving the festivities. so i’m just going to practice tonite and going home. i’m feeling a nasty cold coming on, so i’m doing everything i can to put it off until after our show on friday. i can usually ignore being sick and push the voice until it totally collapses. seems whenever i have some sort of use for the throat it gives out on me. back when i was auditioning for these guys, it did the exact same thing. so, of course, i should get sick before our :Ultra-Secret-Show on friday. i need new parts. these ones are broken.

modern sportfare

seriously, i don’t need another activity in my life. ‘tween being in a band, bikes and married with dog life, i’m all full up. BUT…

this sounds pretty damn fun: Geocaching – Global GPS Cache Hunt. it’s a sport for GPS-heads, you download coordinates of a ‘cache’ near you (apparently there are over 250 caches in N. Virginia) and you try to find it. sounds easy, but the cache is s’posed to be pretty hidden. it’s like a puzzle/maze on a large scale! i’m such a geek! [hey, at least i don't already own a GPS...]

one way ticket yeah.

toldja i’d get to ‘em over lunch. here goes some…

867 5309 jenny

hey, this is pretty cool: the tour diary of jenny toomey hit the blogs of note. congrats! for those of you not in the know, toomey ran the record label simple machines and played with the band tsunami. now she’s been putting out solo albums for the last coupla years.

she co-authored the enormously helpful An Introductory Mechanic’s Guide to Putting Out Records, Cassettes and CDs and has been lobbying for independent musicians rights in the digital age with the future of music coalition.

cool shit. now’s she’s bloggin’ her tour, bob nanna style. stay tuned.

Girls Against Boys = GVSB

had a quick flashback vision during lunch of a really good newer Girls Against Boys song i heard on the radio a couple months ago. GVSB was one of those DC bands that was once awesome, then moved to NYC, signed to a major and turned the ’suck’ button to 11. we used to drive hours to see them play, but their last 2 albums were really disappointing. i think they’ve finally called it quits.

anyway, i was able to locate the song i heard on the radio on Morpheus. “One Dose of Truth” sounds like if richard butler had joined new order and started mainlining a lot of smack. really really, good stuff, makes me yearn for the days of ‘Venus Luxure Number One, Baby”. Turns out they did 2 songs for some movie called Series 7: The Contenders? this movie sounds pretty awesome, i think it is some australian indie film. anybody seen this? know where i can?

addendum from the GVSB website:

Series 7:the Contenders, directed by Dan Minahan and produced by the same people that brought you Boys Don’t Cry has come and gone. It is currently playing in Europe and the soundtrack is available through Koch Records. The soundtrack is almost entirely made up of new GVSB material and the single One Dose of Truth has been getting a good amount of airplay in Europe.

does this mean we can expect more from the masters of double-bass action?

parlor trix

yeah, so this is one of the cooler things i’ve seen in a while: AT&T Labs Interactive Text-To-Speech Demo. the way it handles sentence syntax and phrasing is friggin’ amazing. it allows you to do things like:

Fun Trick Of The Day:

1) rest the reciever of your phone on your computer’s speaker.

2) dial a coworker’s extention.

3) click here.

4) giggle like a schoolgirl.
