coming up for air

currently: doing data entry from 8am to 8pm, no breaks. i’ve listened to nearly half of the this american life archives. i think i’m going a little nutty.

happy birthday to me. an imminent 60 hour work week, the gift that keeps on giving (me a headache).

thanks to all who came out to my birthday blast/housewarming shindig. we’re all patiently waiting for ryan’s pictures….

things might be a little slim around here for this week.

big dan house party

rode in for the 2nd day in a row today. strong like bull. i’ve even got it all figured out so i don’t have to change my morning jack routine so much. there’s even a post-work ride i’m hitting with friends over here tomorrow nite, i’m all about the bikes this week.

flipping thru Dan Lane’s photo gallery and came up for air green with envy. man, i absolutely love all this medical stuff. very cool

embarrassing facts

an embarrassing fact:

i’ve fainted twice in my life. the first occurred about 15 minutes after getting the cartilidge pierced on both ears. it was in the mall, at a Claire’s Boutique. full of teenage girls. i actually fell into one of those wall racks with all the metal hooks protruding. humiliation is a great deterrent to pain.

the second occurred while getting a tattoo touched up. i was already in the chair, so i couldn’t fall (luckily). i didn’t feel it come on at all, i just woke up and the guy was staring at me, offering me a glass of water. guess i just went limp and freaked him out.

i blame both incidents on an empty stomach. the piercing hurt like hell, but was tolerable. the tattoo didn’t really hurt much (shoulder). i can’t really figure it out.

oh yeah, maybe i’m just a pansy.

got this email today along with a suspicious attachement. i’m guessing it must be pretty easy to write a virus, coz these folks seem dumb.

i’ve tried to be positive about it, even amongst the unanimous negative reviews of friends… but it’s just boring.

what? the new Get Up Kids’ On a Wire. burned it last nite, i’ve listened to it a coupla times today. just can’t find anything redeeming about it. it just never kicks in to anything resembling their glory days.

hey, it’s friday… why not head over to photoshop tennis? oh, yeah.. because they haven’t had a new match in a month! go complain.

how about the friday five? it’s back in service, but i just can’t summon the strength to answer five questions about laundry… blah

i’m pretty whiny today, eh?

the middle

horribly grey and rainy today. jeff buckley/nick drake/neil halstead kinda rainy.

i’ve been home improvement crazy the last coupla days. shelves, blinds, hanging art. tried to organize the now-empty basement a bit. not a lot you can do with nothing, tho. i did find a great use for our old entertainment center. i was going to sell it, but i realized that my guitar amp would fit perfectly in the space where the TV was and all the rest of my gear goes on the shelves. perfect. looks pretty cool, too.

house is really shaping up. it kinda freaks me out sometimes. i walk into our living room and see how nice it looks, my first thought is ‘i can’t possibly afford this place’. just used to crappy apartments and shoddy group houses i guess. it just seems amazing sometimes that we’re actually doing it. living the middle class life.
