visiting the orthopedist tomorrow… hopefully they can schedule surgery this week. aw crap i just remembered that i forgot to pick up my x-rays from the ER. eh better wake up early and get em. living this left-handed life in a right-handed body is tiring … i’m off to bed

broke my hand yesterday at the dirt jumps. came off a double sketchy and went facefirst into a tree. my first thought was “broken jaw”… but then my hand started to hurt worse than my face. i fractured the center two metacarpal bones that connect the fingers to the wrist. going to need surgery to pin them back together. looking down the barrel of a 6-8 week recovery.

it’s a beautiful thursday over here. 50/70 degree day. man i love fall. this week’s been laboring by so far. we lost power at the office from 10-12 yesterday. we decided to hang around the busstop in front of our office soaking up the sun. a bus came by and we didn’t get on. we realized that none of us really understood how the bus system really works here and resolved to take the next bus that came by… go where it takes us … and try to get back to work. half an hour went by, the bus came over the horizon, and the power came back on at work. damn.

got a funny call from my friend jenn last week. in a former life, she was a huuuuge stryper fan. they’re coming around on a reunion tour and she wants me to go with her. she’ll even pay my way! now, i’ve never been a fan of the hair-metal christian glamrock stuff (!), but the people watching is going to be first rate. especially now, they’ve added another night having sold out the first. this is going to be weird…

whew. 22 hours later, the power came back on. it was actually pretty cool. we lost electricity around 8ish last night, lit all the candles in the house, played some board games and went to bed early. today we drove and rode around surveying the damage, hosted an impromptu block-party barbeque and went out to see ‘thirteen’. definitely glad to be in the minority of energized houses though. something like 4 million folks without power today.

sure is windy out tried to go into work today, but they closed the office at 11am. better hurry up and post this before the power goes out again!
