lately:

Stupid Ryan’s recent DVD-burner acquisition made me buy one too. saw a great deal on slickdeals and threw up my order for this one on friday. system backups and video footage is going to be so much easier to deal with now.

my parents bought a place out in cottonwood, AZ. they’ll probably be moved out there by late spring. i’m pretty excited for them… and for us to visit. northern arizona is one of the coolest regions i’ve ever visited. i’m definitely looking forward to throwing the dogs and some camping gear in the truck and driving out there this summer.

yeah, i said dogs. we went out to visit the Friends of Homeless Animals on saturday and fell in love with the cutest rottie ever. her name is aurora, she’s 2 or 3, ~80lbs, purebred and super mellow and loving. they’re coming to do the home inspection this week and we should be bringing her home on saturday.

had one of the best sessions ever at vans last nite. there were about 15 mtb’ers there. we’re taking over. i was trying a longish pedal grind thing and kept wussing out until mikey my personal trainer stood nearby and promised to wing his helmet at me if i wussed out again. i guess i perform really well when threatened… pulled 2 just as the session ended.

froze myself on the streetbike yesterday exploring backroads down near occaquan and manassas. found some tight twisties that made the hypothermia worth it.

also, i’m getting closer and closer to finding midgetville. success is in sight.

spent saturday snowboarding at wisp. it’s a pretty good resort and it snowed buckets the whole day making for some fun powdery conditions. i was pretty damn sore yesterday, but riding vans last night helped loosen me up a bit.

sunday i knocked together a quick page for Dj A-Beats. more to come on that one, should be a pretty fun project.

i forgot to mention, elmer and i went out to the warehouse next door a coupla weekends ago to see decahedron. we were absolutely blown away by one of the opening bands, mono. no, not that mellow trip-hop mono … this 4 piece is from japan and plays all instrumentals in the vein of mogwai and sigur ros. they completely assaulted us with some of the most intense noise i’ve ever experienced.

i’ve been avoiding the winter riding slump by hitting vans 2wice a week … thursdays and sundays. i’ve been working on riding the ramps and getting 360s down. been stuck pulling ~300s for the last few weeks, pretty frustrating.
