had my second-ever outing to NoVA’s premiere metal club, JAXX last night. The Hackensaw Boys were opening for Rev. Horton Heat. I’ve been consistently missing all the local Hackensaw Boys shows, so I busted ass to get there on time. Got to hang out with their washboard/spoons/misc player Justin for a while before the show. I’ve known him since we were lil wheeling skate rats in late 80s/early 90s. Was good to catch up with him again.

Jaxx is such a crappy place. They couldn’t deal with amplifying an acoustic band, mics were dropping out right and left, feedback left unchecked through entire songs. The band seemed very frustrated and played an abbreviated set. Gotta check ‘em out at a better location next time.

had a busy weekend in baltimore. saturday was the Match 6 Videozine premiere party followed by a giant streetride. we headed out into the balmer ghetto around 10:30pm to go ride carroll park. safety in numbers and all that, luckily there were ~10 riders in our group, no worries.

got home around 2:00am to just to be back up in bmore at noon for the 2004 Red Bull Bike Battle. using my DCStreet.com connection, i managed to snag a press pass and get full access to all the action. and all the red bull i could drink/hide in my bag. shot lots of film, video & digipix, most of which can be found on the DCStreet photo gallery.

things are going well. been very busy. used my DCStreet.com influence to get a press pass to this weekend’s Red Bull Bike Battle in baltimore. hoping it doesn’t rain on sunday. been riding my lil 20″ bike lots. swung by the newly built powhatan springs skatepark in arlington yesterday before work and got in an hour of riding in a nearly empty park. woulda went today as well but it rained.
