gang of four

just finished listening to the reformed Gang Of Four’s live show on KCRW (Morning Becomes Eclectic Podcast). they’re absolutely amazing… hard to believe those songs were written almost 30 years ago. I couldn’t believe my eyes while scrolling through my downloded podcasts yesterday. Good interview with Gill, Burnham & Allen as well… funny to hear them tear into Franz Ferdinand and other modern UK-retro bands. And in my eyes nobody can fault them, no band has been as groundbreaking or ahead of their time as gand of four. good stuff.

looks like there’s also an Idlewild show up there as well… i’ll get to that later today

so we’re all good at the homestead. survived a harrowing week last with kristy in the hospital for 5 days and me taking care of ryder by myself. she’s better and home now (and back at work already!) and i survived being a single dad. good to know that, should anything happen, i CAN do it.

i finally got pinged for high cholesterol. it was almost an inevitability with my family history. so full on diet changes (basically eating vegetarian again) and i’m on meds to lower my numbers. they seem to think that if i maintain a low number for the rest of my years i can avoid my heart disease destiny. having the boy around definitely makes me more future conscious.

doing work on our local dirt jumps (495) saturday. the land was bought by the county last year, so we’ve all been aware that they may be plowed at any given moment. turns out we have some allies in the local MTB club (MORE). they’re advising that fairfax county leave them alone and actually legitimize 495! we’re going to put in a bunch of work through the end of the month before they do their ‘risk assessment’ walk through. it would be incredible to have legal dirt jumps in fairfax county. i created a yahoo groups space for interested parties to find out more: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/save495/
