After a podium finish at Bear Creek (double points), I was damn happy to find out that I won the Vet Expert DH overall for the Mid Atlantic Cup Series. Not bad for my first full year racing. Also it turns out that the #2 guy is being a jerk about the Dual Slalom results, so I’m quite happy to have beaten him. We head up to Hereford, MD on the 22nd for the awards banquet. They’re also having a dirt jump comp and a dual slalom race, and it’s in the middle of a wine festival! fun for the whole family!

2006 Mid Atlantic Cup Series Overall Results (excel)

just got the heads up from Will, racersedge posted the current standings and i’m #2 in the series!! I’m also #3 in the Yeti Dual Slalom series, which is very surprising. Consistency counts I guess. We still have the finals to go next weekend at Bear Creek so things could still change, but our total is based on the best 4 of 5 races so i guess it’s pretty much locked in. I still have no plans to move up to semi-pro any time soon, i’m enjoying the expert class waaay too much!

catching up with the season. had a crappy race at snowshoe. amazing course, ridiculously fast and long. dusty dry. headed out friday night and hauled some serious country road driving to pull in at 12:30. got 2 practice runs in before the race, coulda used 3. i fell in my race run pretty hard, went off course and lost nearly 20 seconds. that was my first crash this year. ended up 17th, 20 seconds behind the leaders. d’oh. that means if i’d kept it together i stood a chance of getting the podium.

frustrated on the drive home, i determined to sell off the street bike and use that cash for a real DH race bike. put the fizzer up on craigslist last week and she was picked up by the end of the week. took the cash up to germantown cycles and brought this home:
