award winning!

just got word that a poster i designed for the USDA got an honorable mention in the semi-annual American Design Awards!

in more award-winning action, we spent saturday up in Hereford, MD at the annual Racers Edge BikeToberFest! they hold a Dual Slalom race up there every year as a season-ender to the Mid-Atlantic Cup . We all had a blast, Ryder was in heaven as he and Kristy got to ride in a real monster truck! i qualified 1st in Expert Open, but got knocked out in the semi-finals. I think i ended up 3rd or 4th. pix to come!

started tracking my calories again using theDailyPlate.com. while chasing two rugrats is tiring, my opportunities for real exercise are fewer and fewer and being around the house all the time has me snacking a lot.

snuck up to Wisp last sunday because my wife is awesome. last real local DH race of the year. i literally had to remove several spiderwebs from my DH bike, i haven’t touched it since hosing it off after snowshoe #2. i was definitely feeling the effects of sleep deprivation and lack of riding this time. i had a great time though and ended up 3rd and was home in time to put the kids to bed. probably my last race in the expert category, as i’ll likely move up to semi-pro next year.

lots of traffic along I-70 on the way home, so I had an enjoyable detour along 40 and 85s. lots of great sights and country-style driving (passing on the double-yellow? i’d never do that…)

oh, and i figured it finally time to start shaving my head…
